If all you want from the new Transformers film is to watch robots fighting for two-and-a-half hours, you won’t be disappointed. As far as spectacle is concerned, director Michael Bay raises the bar considerably with Transformers: Dark of the Moon, delivering some jaw-dropping action sequences that are further enhanced by the remarkable use of 3D.Unfortunately, Bay doesn’t know when to stop. Although an improvement on the last film Revenge of the Fallen, this third installment in the series has barely any humor or emotion to speak of.

There's loads of action, high drama, grandiloquent special effects and yet Transformers 3 isn't as engrossing as the first two parts. And that's only because the films lacks heart -- the high emotional quotient which gave the first two parts its soul and substance behind all the FX. The film is way too long and could do with some much-needed editing. Specially since most of the fights get repetitive and the drama seems unnecessarily prolonged. That apart, Transformers 3 has enough to make you celebrate the believe-it-or-not spectacle of larger-than-life Hollywood.

Every time the robots wreak havoc, indulging in indiscriminate destruction and mayhem, especially towards the climax, you feel like shutting your ears and closing your eyes. There's not a single line mouthed by anyone in the cast that you remember. And you don't want to remember, either.Honestly, Transformers's strengths could have been its high-voltage action and special effects but they are more about boom-bang than the stuff that pleases the eye. Transformers plays out like a video game.Wish it really was a video game, for you could have paused or stopped it at will, depending on how far you could endure the noise. Your test starts now!

Ever since the first part, the Transformer series has been abysmally stupid, cinematically crass and viscerally dumb.Like the other two Transformer films, after a point you forget who's fighting who. All you see is big metal things transforming mid-air and slashing one another. And that's about all there is to the film indeed.

What’s Good: The engaging action sequences and visual effects. What’s Bad: The weak script; the uninspiring performances; lack of emotional connect with the audience.Verdict: Transformers: Dark Of The Moon is visually vibrant but weak on the plot.Watch it for the well-choreographed action sequences. On the whole, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon will get audiences into theatres because of the strong brand name and the excellent publicity, but many will leave disappointed.

Fast-paced and engaging, the plot keeps you at the edge of the seat throughout. Historic references have been employed effectively and the viewer gets some lessons in US and NASA history in the bargain.  The twists are unravelled at precise points in the story, which keeps the viewers from getting distracted. The plot is expertly unravelled, with sufficient amount of dialogue and special effects to move the story along. Though the movie is dominated with special effects, care has been taken to inject appropriate amount humour and emotion in it. Michael Bay will regain his fans’ vote of confidence. You don’t want to give this one a miss.

With the action not exactly all over the place like the high-octane Revenge of the Fallen, it’s the focus on “story” in the first half of the film that proves to be a major failing, with the plain unintriguing goings-on doing nothing but highlighting the weak writing. And then there’s the second half, which features unprecedented action, endless machine–induced destruction and earth-shattering explosions on an apocalyptic scale (in 3D!) that dwarfs other such sequences concocted by Michael Bay.

I can’t decide if this movie is so spectacularly, breathtakingly dumb as to induce stupidity in anyone who watches, or so brutally brilliant that it disarms all reason. What’s the difference?“Transformers: Dark of the Moon” is among Mr. Bay’s best movies and by far the best 3-D sequel ever made about gigantic toys from outer space. I mean his utterly nonexistent notions of coherence and plausibility — are accompanied by a visual imagination that is at once crazily audacious and ruthlessly skillful.“Dark of the Moon” is one of the few recent 3-D movies that justify the upcharge.

  1. Well, your rating is really very very small!! I think it's must be 4/5.. because the plot is not good at all, and some effects are taken from "Island" (from http://www.torrentoff.com)
